Hello everyone. I just wanted to give you all an update on JJ. Yesterday morning we drove the Carl Albert Health Clinic in Ada. We drove there because since JJ is Chickasaw, then the services that he recieves are free of charge. We got there about 10:45am and did not get in to see the doctor until well after 1:00pm. Once we got in to see the doctor, she sent us over to X-ray.
After returning from X-ray, the doctor told JJ that he had a fluid build up on his knee. She said that the build up could be caused from arthritis and the daily wear and tear that he has done to his body. We bought thought okay, that sounds easy enough, just drain the fluid and send us on our merry way.
Ha, not so fast.....we should have known that nothing is that easy. First the doctor came back in with a 18 gauge needle and tried to break into the fluid pocket enough to drain his knee, needless to say, she was unsuccessful. JJ however was in a lot of pain, even though she had given him some pain medicine. He made the statement that when he had this done 14 years ago, he does not remember it hurting so bad. So, next the doctor tried a 20 gauge needle. She was still unable to find the pocket to drain the fluid. After several attempts, JJ just told her to take the needle out. I would say that after everything was done, JJ laid on the table for about 30-45 minutes with no luck.
The doctor then gave him a shot in his hip for pain and inflammation, two prescriptions and sent us on our way home. We finally got home about 4:00pm. I talked to him before I left for work this morning [he is staying home today - lucky dog] and he said that his knee still hurts but not as bad as it did. Looks like it is inevitable that surgery might be in my hubby's near future.
Thanks again for all of your thoughts and prayers. We love and miss you all!!!
